World Scale Resource

The U.S. recently exceeded Saudi Arabia and Russia in oil production as extraction from shale rock continues to spur the nation's economic recovery, North Dakota can be seen as a major contributor to these feats.

U.S. production of crude oil, along with liquids separated from natural gas, surpassed all other countries in 2014 with daily output exceeding 11 MM barrels in the first quarter.

The tight shale oil plays are rapidly making up a significant amount of the U.S fuel supply.  The Bakken is by far the largest contributor in the shale and tight oil group; the Eagle Ford shale play in TX is the nearest in size.

It is estimated that U.S. oil output will surge to 13.1 MM barrels a day by 2019, according to IEA, a Paris-based adviser to 29 nations.  The U.S. has the potential to remain the top producer in the World past the 2030's.
